Bio
Having led international P&Ls at iconic brands MTV and NBA, Matt co-founded Two Circles in 2011, leading the business as Chief Executive until 2016, through acquisition by WPP and thereafter as Executive Chairman. During that period the business grew to over 200 people servicing over 100 clients worldwide including the six biggest sports rights holders in the world by revenue. Two Circles were voted into the top three for leadership by the Sunday Times List for all industries, also the UK Sports Agency of the Year three times.
Bruin Capital purchased the business from WPP in 2020. Matt stepped down as Executive Chairman at that point and now spends the majority of his time focused on Board advisory work, principally through Non-Executive Director commitments inside and outside sport. Within the elite sport environment this includes as an Independent Director of the English Institute of Sport a member the UK Sport Major Events Panel investing in bringing world class sport to the UK.
Matt has been published by several leading publications, including in Harvard Business Review’s ‘Top 10 Reads on Sports and Leadership’. He recently published his second book “All to Play For – How Sport can Reboot Our Future” with Penguin Books which looks in detail at the future of the relationship between sport and wider society. The BBC called the book, ‘a timely, engaging and thought provoking look at what the future of sport and society may hold’. The book has recently been shortlisted for a major award in the UK.
