Born on 6 February 1957 in Albi
Claude Onesta has been in charge of the High Performance of French sport at the Agence nationale du Sport since its creation in April 2019. He is currently in charge of the reorganization of the French sports model and the improvement of France’s international ranking, espcially for the JOP Paris 2024 and Milan Cortina 2026, through the new strategy «Ambition Bleue».
Coach of the France men’s handball team from 2001 to 2016, he is considered one of the best national team coaches in the history of handball. He now has one of the best title record in all major competitions: 2 Olympic titles, 3 world titles and 3 European titles. In total, Claude ONESTA led France to ten finals, including nine wins.
