Alessia Russo, born 8 February 1999, is an English footballer who plays as a forward for Manchester United in the FA Women's Super League and the England Women’s national team. She has previously played for Chelsea, Brighton & Hove Albion and North Carolina Tar Heels, and has represented England at all age groups. Alessia made her senior international debut for England in 2020 and scored her first international goals in 2021. A hat-trick timed at 11 minutes - fastest hattrick by any England player in history! Alessia began her career at Charlton Athletic's centre of excellence before joining and captaining Chelsea’s development squad. In 2017, Alessia joined Brighton & Hove Albion before heading over to the number one ranked University in the United States later that year, representing North Carolina Tar Heels. During her time in the U.S. Alessia earned several accolades including the All-America selection, the first Tar Heel to make the first team since Crystal Dunn in 2013. After three successful years in the U.S., Alessia signed a contract with Manchester United in 2020, the club she grew up supporting. After an injury set back Alessia came back stronger than ever for the season 21/22 where she (so far) has netted 11 goals and made 5 assists. Voted as WSL Player of the Month in March, Alessia has a big summer ahead hopefully representing the Lionesses in the UEFA Women’s Euro that will be played on home ground in England.
