Bio
Carsten has many years of experience of sports and entertainment working for both profit and non-profit organisations in international sport. He spent 20 years based out of Switzerland, working for and advising brands and sports rights-holders in the areas of sports sponsorship, media rights , product licensing, branding, and event marketing.
In this capacity, Carsten has worked in marketing and business development roles for leading global sports marketing agencies ISL and Infront Sports & Media. He was also project leader for Swatch’s investments in the 2004 Olympic Games and other sports sponsorships . More recently, he was marketing and commercial director of the International Equestrian Federation and of European Professional Club Rugby, the organisation behind the Heineken Champions Cup.
Having relocated to Denmark with his family, he has founded and is now running Sports Lab Copenhagen - a Copenhagen based hub and network organisation supporting sports innovation entrepreneurship, providing sector-specific expertise and consultancy, and developing the Nordic sports innovation ecosystem. It places a special focus on solutions that impact the UN Sustainable Development Goals by harnessing the Nordic values and approach to a healthy lifestyle and environmentally aware, well-integrated, inclusive, socially and physically active communities. Carsten is also teaching in sports marketing & strategy and conducting research in sports innovation and technology for the University of Southern Denmark.
