Bio
Malia Metella was born on 23 February 1982 in Cayenne, French Guiana. She is a former high-level swimmer who specializes in sprint events. She was trained at USLM Pacoussines in French Guiana before being dismissed from the TOEC Dauphins club in Toulouse.
Track record
2005: Vice-World Champion in the 100m freestyle in Montreal
2004: Deputy Olympic champion of the 50m freestyle in Athens
2003 and 2004: 5 European titles in small and large basin
Between 2001 and 2009: multiple champion of France in large and small basin
In November 2021, she accomplished the feat of swimming across Lake Titicaca in total autonomy alongside Théo Curin and Malia Metella.
Alongside her challenges as an extreme swimmer, Malia is a speaker and involved with various organizations.
